Hi Robert and Diane — thanks for having me out today. As discussed, your current water heater is past its service life and showing signs of corrosion at the base. This proposal covers full removal and replacement with a new 40-gallon gas unit, including the expansion tank required by current code. We can have hot water back the same day we start.

Scope summary

Remove and dispose of the existing 40-gallon gas water heater. Supply and install a new Rheem Performance 40-gallon natural gas water heater with new flex connectors, a thermal expansion tank, and a new shut-off valve. Reconnect gas, water, and venting, then fill, test, and confirm safe operation. Includes haul-away of the old unit and job-site cleanup.

Store prices change frequently and vary by location, so verify the current unit price and availability before committing to a number.

Terms

1. PAYMENT. A deposit of 50% of the total proposal amount is due upon acceptance to schedule the work and order materials. The remaining balance is due in full upon substantial completion of the work. Payments not received within 10 days of the due date may pause work until the account is current. 2. CHANGE ORDERS. This proposal covers only the work described above. Any additional or altered work requested by the customer, or required by hidden or unforeseen conditions (such as rot, mold, outdated wiring, or code issues discovered after work begins), will be quoted and approved in writing as a change order before that work is performed. 3. SCHEDULE & DELAYS. Work will be scheduled promptly after acceptance and receipt of the deposit. Start and completion dates are estimates and may shift due to weather, material availability, inspection scheduling, or conditions discovered during the work. The contractor will communicate schedule changes as soon as they are known. 4. ACCESS & SITE CONDITIONS. The customer will provide reasonable access to the work area, including electricity and water where needed, and will move or protect personal belongings in the work area before work begins. 5. PERMITS & CODE. Required plumbing permits and inspections will be obtained and their costs are included only where listed in this proposal. All work will be performed in accordance with applicable plumbing codes. 6. WARRANTY. Workmanship is warranted against leaks at joints and connections made under this proposal for one (1) year from completion. Fixtures, water heaters, and equipment carry their manufacturers' warranties. This warranty does not cover pre-existing piping, drain lines, or fixtures outside the described scope, clogs caused by use, or damage from freezing where heat was not maintained. 7. CLEANUP & DISPOSAL. The work area will be left broom-clean at the end of each workday, and job-related debris generated by this work will be removed upon completion. 8. ACCEPTANCE. Signing or otherwise accepting this proposal forms an agreement for the work described at the price shown. This proposal is valid until the expiration date shown above and may be withdrawn or revised after that date.
